Bears Hire STUD OC Shane Waldron

Did the Bears… actually get it right??

This morning at 5am (Does Ryan Poles sleep?) NFL insider Tom Pelissero Announced the Bears were hiring Shane Waldron as their new Offensive Coordinator!

Shane Waldron, Offensive Coordinator

As our previous newsletter spoke about, the Bears had the most thorough search for a new Offensive Coordinator in a long long time.

And Shane Waldron checks a LOT of boxes as a well qualified, proven play caller.

✅ He’s been an offensive coordinator for the Seahawks since 2021

✅ Took a backup QB in Geno Smith and lead a playoff season with 4,000 yards passing and 30 touchdown passes

✅ Before then, was the Los Angeles Rams passing game coordinator and QB coach from 2018-2020 under Mastermind Sean McVay

✅ Has 2 Super Bowl Rings from his early coaching years with the Patriots

🔥Shane Waldrons Resume is as good as you can ask for in a Signal Caller coaching up a young QB (Fields, Williams, Maye, or whoever is the 2024 Bears QB).

The Bears got lucky! Usually when a team fires their OC, the pool of replacements is coaches that got fired themselves, or positional coaches that never called plays before. Lateral moves don’t happen while a coach is still under contract with another team. Proven success is a RARE trait in OC candidates.

Bears were able to scoop up Waldron in a lateral move because long time Seahawks head coach Pete Carrol stepped down, and the Seahawks allowed his staff members to seek opportunities elsewhere.

Not only did the Bears, in my opinion, choose the right man for the job, but Shane Waldron, the man himself, chose to join the Bears even though he had plenty other opportunities around the league, INCLUDING head coaching interviews.

Bears hired arguably the top OC candidate available in all of the NFL. They hit it out of the park.

Now: Prove it. Win games and make the playoffs!
